WordPress Themes

The themes in WordPress, both free and premium, provide a wide range of options that can save you some development time. Theme selection defines the types of tools that can be deployed on a site, the colors, architecture and more. The simplicity of the theme management capabilities makes updates and modifications easy and manageable. WordPress integrates a theme search tool in the admin area. This can be found under “Appearance->Themes”. This area provides information about each theme that has been downloaded and identifies the current theme that is activated.

To add a new theme, select “Add New” to bring up the theme installation tool. Here you can do a detailed search, peruse through the most popular themes, check out the newest themes or review the themes that have been updated most recently.
If you decide to do a detailed search, an extensive list of search options are available. The quickest way to do a search is by keyword, or “Term”. This allows you to search for certain key words pertaining to the content or planned use of the website that you are developing. If this does not bring up something of interest, try a “Tag” search. A third, more specific search option is “Author”. Searching by “Author” may not be an option that you use often because a user may not know the works of a specific author. This option would be helpful if a user finds a template that they really liked working with and would like to check to see if the author has other works that might be useful. There are also option to filter your searches by colors, columns, width, features and subject.

All in all, the theme capabilities of WordPress can simplify website development, updates and modifications. This allows current users to quickly and easily modify the look and feel of their websites with minimal effort.
